Stabilizer

A stabilizer is a machine with two vibration aggregates. While stop and
straightening the track the ballast is loosened, by tamping the track.
In order to get a better resistance of the ballast the track will be
stabilized through this vibration aggregates. The advantage of
stabilizing the track is that the ballast is more firmly. That is the
intention, so that the first train (after deactivation) can cross the
track again at a higher speed. A stabilizer is controlled by one man.
The stabilizer can put the aggregates and the measurement vehicles at
various operating points in the track. In the picture above you can see
how the vibrations of the aggregates goes through the ballast.
